I started in the furniture removal business back in the late 1950s, working for several firms before being lucky enough to gain a permanent contract driving for K.L. McKenzie Truck Hire, in Footscray, Victoria. For a little over eight years, I carted wine from Leo Buring in the Barossa Valley to Melbourne, then I’d pick up 11 tons of chemicals from Gibson Kelite, in Melbourne, for the return trip. 

K.L. McKenzie was one of the most honest and straightforward transport owne
