The truck was a 1951 Seddon, powered by a P6 Perkins diesel. The photo was taken near Balranald on the Hay Plains which, in those days, was unsealed. The road had a high crown and, if it rained on those black soil plains, you‘d easily slide off to the edge. Plenty of trucks slid off the road but, as soon as the rain stopped and the wind dried it out, they would be able to just start up and drive off; they were never bogged.
